Diary Event

Fellow Members,

I hope this email finds you well and looking forward to the festive period.

2020 has been a unique year and one that a lot of us will just want to put behind us, it will be remembered by all of us as a tough year and one that can’t end quick enough.

What a year to be Captain!

Having said that, the honour of being Captain and representing our great club has been an absolute privilege, plus I get to do it all again next year!

I would like to say a big thank you to everyone at the club for the support they have given me this year, I couldn’t have done it without you.

In terms of golf, the whole calendar has been decimated apart from a couple of events, so lets hope next year we can get back to a full season out there on the links, and hopefully by summer we will be able to socialize as well.

Both the Lady Captain and myself managed to have our respective charity days and cobbled together a respectable amount for Queenscourt, so a big thank you to all the members who supported us.

Sadly, we have lost 3 Past Captains this year, the latest being Vernon Cubbon, whose funeral was last week. Vernon had been a member for over 70 years and after meeting his family I realised it meant a lot to them to know how much Vernon loved S & A.

We really are lucky to be part of this golf club “family” and I know this year has been hard for everyone, but the club will be there next year and the year after, not just for the great golf course that we have, but for the support and friendship we all get from it.

I wish you and your families a safe and peaceful Christmas and a Happy New Year, let’s hope by March or April we have shed a “tier” or two and get back to some kind of normality.

Mark Baxter
