The recent rainfall, coupled with some slightly higher day time temperatures, has seen a real “boom” in the growth out on the links. This has meant areas of rough and carries may have become longer and less playable. Our aim over the next week or so is to tackle a lot of the carries and particularly “lush” areas on the golf course and to keep them maintained at a more fair and playable height.

The bunker faces have received a successful spray to help kill off much of the grasses which grow through them. Our next phase is to go along each revetted bunker face and burn the grasses. This will help us achieve our desired aesthetic of much cleaner and crisper looking bunkers.

We have also just undergone a small amount of remedial action on what we like to class as “winter paths” on the course - this includes left of the 14th carry, left of 16th carry, through the gap to the left side of Gumbleys Hill. These areas have over time become pot holed and not visually ideal. The areas will be turned over by an outside contractor, levelled and then re-seeded with a tougher grass species and will then make for a much better secondary path network later on in the year.

Once again I would like to thank everyone for the comments and feedback I have been receiving on the recent works and would welcome anymore.
