Advice on Bunker Raking

As a result of several comments received via the Members’ Survey, and a Green Committee Meeting held last week, I have been asked to remind all members of how we would like the bunkers to be raked.

In essence this is very simple, instead of pulling the sand from the middle of the bunker (or where you have played your shot from) back towards the edge of the bunker where you exit; we ask that you push the sand back into the middle of the bunkers to cover your footprints.

The philosophy is that as sand is removed from the base of the bunker, and noting that not all golfers will push the sand back, we are continually thinning out the sand in the base of the bunkers and piling it around the edges.

If all golfers begin to help the Green staff by maintaining the sand levels in the base of the bunkers and keeping it away from the edges, we should see more balls roll away from the edges, and make sure that there is plenty of sand under the ball to play a normal bunker shot, rather than one where the club bounces off the hard base.

Thank you in advance for your cooperation.
