Hi everyone,

Since I last wrote just after Easter, golfing activity has increased. I have participated in two Captain's matches against Hesketh and Ormskirk. These were very social games which we won - but that was not important. Thanks to the members who played and hope you enjoyed the afternoon. I have also played in a match against Ilkley - again another great day.

I also had the pleasure of playing in Captain's Day with two senior Past Captains. Both of them carried their bags and there was me with a battery powered trolley ... embarrassing! Great day and company.

Spring Dinner came and the Speaker was Dean Windass - ex-footballer who had fallen on hard times since finishing the game. His speech was certainly different, and if any members want to know where he got his tattoos I have the number!

I also had the pleasure of golfing with the Lady Captain in my first mixed comp. It was a lovely day and I look forward to playing in more mixed competitions.

Bank Holiday then came and the Am-Am. It was the first time I have played, and for those members who have not taken part, I would strongly advise giving it a go next year. I played with Lady Captain, Junior Captain, Rob Graham and Jim Payne. Thanks to them all and to Mike Bishop for his organisation of the day - it was a lovely day on the course followed by a barbecue.

More dinners including a dinner at the Crowne Plaza with the S&A Captains. It was a wonderful night and thanks to David Walker for sorting the arrangements.

I have been to more dinners and played more golf and just want to say how lovely it is and thanks to all of the past Captains and members for your support.

Sadly two more members passed away recently - Mr Stan Jackson, who was Captain in 1995 and a long standing member, and Mr Derek Edwards, another fine gentleman, and both will be sadly missed.

Before I finish, a quick reminder with regards to the May Ball on Saturday 26th May. Unfortunately the date clashes with the Champions League Final so, if like me you are a Liverpool follower, please come along to the Ball as I might be amongst a lot of Everton fans that night and your support would be appreciated!

Once again thanks to each and every one of you for your support.
